A good week.

Post by Cynic »

Things seem to be settling down in my life finally.

My disability hit and then the same day my wife got a job and then my other insurance hit. Oh, disability hitting also means that I netted a cool 10k+ in back allowances. Now just relaxing in my insomniac state letting this week crash into me and take away some of my past stresses.

here's to this in the future as well.

That's good to hear, man.
He jumps like a damned dragoon, and charges into battle fighting rather insane monsters with little more than his bare hands and rather nasty spell effects conjured up solely through knowledge and the local plantlife. He unerringly knows where his goal lies, he breathes underwater and is untroubled by space travel, seems to have no limits to his actual endurance and favors killing his enemies by driving both boots square into their skull. His agility is unmatched, and his strength legendary, able to fling about a turtle shell big enough to contain a man with enough force to barrel down a near endless path of unfortunates.

Glad it caught up to you, so you'd get to catch that breath.

I spent a couple days driving around the county we've targeted to move to, and camping out of my car alone.

It's a little stressful, and I hope it works out. I'd rather live in Santa Cruz, but I'll trade living in a tiny apartment and little chance to get back to Santa Cruz for a place of our own.

So it's been a good week for us, too!

Crissa: good to hear. I hope you get a place of your own. We're probably going to move into a place of our own in a few months. The wife's job requires a dismal 2 hr commute each way. As we get a little more settled and after paying off a few debts, we'll probably move closer to New york city while staying within Jersey (cheaper cost of living.) Hopefully we can cut her commute by at least an hour or so.

As long as we're trading stories about how sweet life can be sometimes, I got accepted into the University of Texas at Austin's school of engineering department a couple of days ago. I'm going to major in electrical engineering. Also, I just sent out my application for the Post-9/11 G.I. Bill VA benefits and holy shit that's a lot of moolah.

Moreover, my brother got accepted as a grad student there so I'll finally get to spend some time with him after being away for more than seven years.

Lago: I can say definitely UT is definitely one of the best schools you can be in. And after having lived in Texas and loving Austin, I think youwould find it an awesome place. Good deal, man.

Congrats! I'm pretty sure I'll apply as a transfer there next year.

I just got the news that I passed the bar exam. It's been really stressing me out since I had to take it in July and they just posted the pass list on Friday. Now if only I can get a job.

BTW, Lago you should probably know that the only electrical engineer I have ever known described it as basically majoring in masochism. I think that means you should prepare for a rough road ahead. Or wear nipple clamps and a gimp mask for the first day of school. Possibly both just to make sure.

I just need to peel the naval insignia off of my old leather bondage suit and sterilize my favorite Stars and Stripes ring gag and I'll be good to go.

What I'm worried about though is knowing how the hell I get scholarships. I want some of that!

Bug the financial aid department at your new school Lago, they should have lots and lots and lots of available scholarships you can apply for.

This week is good too. I got internet at my house again, I paid off my credit card debt a year ahead of schedule, I told off some people that I've been putting up with crap for a while. Things are good.

Count: that's great. I know you've had to cut back on the utilities. But internet is goods. :-D

Lago: fastweb.com is a good source for scholarship search as well. Also look for Navy based scholarships for ex-navy or ex-military guys.

Count: You had me at Internet.

I think I may have an addiction.

I got in a good old fashion bar brawl. The owner of an Irish Pub objected to my use of statistics, so he barred the door and punched me in the face. It took two people to pull me off his twitching body and I walked out of his establishment - never to return.

Seconded about what statistic could start a bar fight. Sounds almost like that bit in Small Gods where philosophers are getting into bar fights over logic.

Actually, hey, it IS a good week for me. Yesterday was a paid holiday.

Actually, history. Started with some standard World War II vs. sustained medieval lack of development crap. But the last straw was seriously weird. Dumbass thought that there were more people alive today than had ever died. Got so upset upon being shown to be wrong that he decided to elevate it to fisticuffs. Apparently forgot to notice that I had forty kilos on him and my glasses are mostly for convenience.

Owners of Irish Pubs generally deserve to be punched out of principle.
The internet gave a voice to the world thus gave definitive proof that the world is mostly full of idiots.

Well, for n number of 'human' generations (say, 5000 for just under 10,000 years; generations used to be min 10 max 20), and an average population under 100 million, when we hit 5 billion people on the planet, you might have been able to say that.

However, that was more than twenty years ago, and alot more people lived and died than were involved in procreation.

To add to this week, I finally got rid of someone who was playing mind games with me. Outstanding.

Wow, that many? I wasn't even close. I was going to suggest about 50 billion, but I guess I kind of handwaved stuff in BC.

This week, I recovered from an illness that had been plaguing me for ~a week (more or less since the very moment I turned 25). And my internet connection went back to normal speed instead of Slowpoke levels.

Also, over the past fortnight I played 4 Apocalypse games and won them all. One was by forfeit: my opponent threw a hissy fit and left. The best bit is he's part German and called my ally a Nazi (a rules Nazi). And I am not above equating all Germans with Nazis for a laugh.

He was an annoying prick and never does anything other than complain, and brag about the Forge World stuff he bought. So watching him throw a tantrum was seriously awesome. The other victories were the normal "We had more objectives/killed more foes" kind. One Canoness even managed to seriously destroy three Le Mann Russ tanks in one game. It was good.
